“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice.” William Jennings Bryan
Growing up, I remember going to Silver Point Beach Club in Long Island, New York, and having “court” parties, similar to block parties.
We’d be out on the cool sand of the summer night, dancing to the DJ playing The Electric Slide among other 80’s and 90’s greatest hits.
No worries, no care.
Shoot into adulthood, watching the 9am crowd walk into their skyscraper, get through security, and head up to the 11th, 12th, and so on floor overlooking Los Angeles.
Glimpses of brief dancing stints laying in the back of their mind. Or that article they’d like to write. An upcoming vacation. Last night’s dinner. Tonight’s dinner… What are they thinking of?
It’s a beautiful thing to live in such a world where we can be here, yet there, at the same time.
It’s called imagination.
As James M. Barrie wrote in Peter Pan, “All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.”
If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.
So today, as you find yourself working with moments of pause. Pause on your ability to have it all.
You deserve it.
